Tori will release an album of all new material for Epic/Sony called The Beekeeper on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 in the U.S./Canada and on Monday, February 21, 2005 in the U.K. and portions of Europe. The release date in Australia has been delayed until Monday, February 28, 2005. (The Netherlands, Belgium and France got the album on Friday, February 18, 2005!) This is an album of all new material and you can see the albums cover to the right . This page on The Dent will contain all the latest details about The Beekeeper!

On Friday night, December 17, 2004, Toriamos.com sent out a special Happy Holidays message from Tori to all the people signed up for her official mailing list. The email revealed for the first time the album cover and official track listing for The Beekeeper. You can see the track listing below and the cover above.

The Power of Orange Knickers features the vocals of Damien Rice! ( Damien's vocals are actually more in the background, in the same way that Trent's were on Past The Mission. It is not really a duet, and Damien never sings alone.)
There will be both a special limited edition version of The Beekeeper (EK 93698) in a soft pak as well as a regular version (EK 92800) in a standard jewel case. The special edition will contain "a Bonus DVD of over 25 minutes of interview footage as Tori talks about the songs and their origins as well as a unique glimpse behind the scenes at the photo shoot for The Beekeeper. The DVD also features the bonus track Garlands set to exclusive content from Tori's upcoming book, Piece by Piece, including photographs and text. The Special Packaging also includes a seed packet with a wild flower mix prepared especially for The Beekeeper." The special edition package groups the album's 19 songs into 6 different gardens- Roses and Thorns, Herbs and Elixers, The Desert Garden, The Greenhouse, The Orchard and The Rock Garden. To compliment this garden theme the package includes a "Beekeeper" mix of flower and plant seeds. The Special Edition version of The Beekeeper will be available worldwide, but the seeds themselves are only be available in the U.S. version due to export restrictions on plants/seeds and certain ecological concerns.

These scans do not show you all the artwork, but most of it.

The first single for this album is Sleeps With Butterflies. This single was sent to various U.S. radio formats in Late December 2004/January 2005. Sadly, there will be no commercial release of this single. You can see the promo U.S. CD cover of this single to the right, which comes from Tori's management. Click it to see it larger. Tori produced the new album herself and recorded it in her UK studio Martian Engineering with drummer Matt Chamberlain and bassist Jon Evans. Guitars are played by Mac Aladdin. Background vocals on some songs come from the London Community Gospel Choir. Damien Rice providers additional vocals on The Power Of Orange Knickers. Kelsey Dobyns sings backup vocals on the song Ribbons Undone.
On this album, Tori incorporates vintage organs, Afro-Cuban drums and Gospel choirs.
The Beekeeper, like all new Sony/BMG releases, is text compatible. If your CD or DVD player is capable it will display the CD and song titles.
The lyrics printed inside the CD booklet are in the shape of honeycombs. The special edition packaging is made like a book. The liner notes are attached followed by the CD and then DVD. The flower seeds are just kind of stuck in there;l they don't have a special holding spot.
A new book called Tori Amos: Piece by Piece was released on February 8, 2005, and is being released in conjunction with the new album. The book is written by Tori Amos and journalist Ann Powers. The book gives readers a rare inside look into many intimacies of Tori's life and explains the specifics of Tori's creative process--how her songs go from ideas and melodies to recordings and passionately performed concert pieces. The relationship between the Bosendorfer piano and the B3 Hammond organ will be explored on the album.

Hirja informs me that Tori fans in The Netherlands can pre-order the Special Edition version of The Beekeeper from the Netherlands section of www.bol.com! You can find the precise listing here. The listing seems to indicate that the album will be released in Holland on Friday, February 18, 2005. I recall from previous years that Toriphiles in the Netherlands would get Tori's new album the Friday before everyone else, so this is likely correct!
