Set List:

Black Dove

Crucify (gorgeous, she slowed down the choruses and didn't play anything, just voice, drums, and bass) Past the Mission (* another beautiful intro, she sang something like: "She comes to me in her beauty, in the morning when I'm sleeping in the evening when I'm sleeping she comes she comes she takes me by the hand, she comes")

Wednesday

Band Leaves
Blues on the Way (I am sure that's the name, but not positive, at least that was the refrain, cool intro, she sang "What's it gonna be, is she gonna come, what key do I want, hmmmm, damn the lightman's gonna kill me, you don't know what's coming, unless you steal the set list from my husband after the show!")

Mother
Mary

Band returns

Guess what? I got sandwiched in a 3 car freeway accident on the way to the show! And it didn't stop me from going, we still made it on time. I have whiplash but am otherwise not hurt and no one else was, although the cars are screwed up. We missed Howie Day but were in time for Tori, who looked gorgeous as always, she had a white barrette with ribbons or something clipped to one side of her head that looked like the ones I used to wear when I was a kid. I wrote Tori a little note and tore it out of my journal, thanking her for the energy. Handed it to Mark Hawley after the show, he was very gracious and said he would give it to her and pocketed it, but I couldn't score the set list, dammit! Someone beat me to it! I had a Tori virgin with me, my sistah Toni who loved every second! I noticed that Mark is extremely antsy during the show, he jumps around like a little kid and fidgets every second like a nervous wreck. It's so cute! Another note, the audience was extremely well behaved and polite during the show. Would that they were all like that, I'm sure. Okay, it's 2 a.m. and I'm totally wiped out.

From Carley Borgen:

I see you’ve already posted the set list, so I need not include that, but I thought I would relay some of my personal highlights. The Chiles Center was a great venue for Tori, the sound was amazing and it seemed that no seat was a bad seat. My friends and I were way up in the upper level but we still had a fantastic view. It was a long show, 24 songs total plus a couple cute improvs.

Tori seemed to be enjoying herself immensely – at the beginning, after introducing Jon and Matt, she made a comment about how much they love the northwest, and wish that they could just stay here and fly the rest of the world in. J There was a great energy between performers and audience throughout the show. When the band left and the good ole’ Roadside Caf&Mac218; sign came on, she apparently forgot what she was going to play because she kept singing “Umm, let’s see..” and was joking about how the light man was going to kill her because everything was ready, and how we wouldn’t know what we were missing unless we stole the set list from her husband after the show.

And then she launched into Alamo.. words cannot describe! She plays it so rarely, I never thought I would be blessed with hearing it live. Then came Mother, which I can dangerously say is my favorite girl of all time.. dangerously because I just love all of her girls so very much that it is hard to pick an absolute favorite. Never thought I would hear HER live, either. I was thus twice blessed. And to top the secret time off, she played Mary. Pleasant surprise number three.

She just kept wowing the audience as the show progressed. It was absolutely amazing. I wasn’t expecting a third song in the first encore, and of course it was yet another one that I had never expected to hear. Here. In My Head, and solo! What I found hilarious was the first thought that popped into my head – that she had now played the entire (three whole songs, hah) of the UK Crucify single. Funny how my brain works.

So yes, I will restate myself yet again – the entire show, plus the debut of Alamo, Mary and 1000 Oceans, made for a magical night. I love love love Tori.

From anonymous:

just a tiny little correction about the playing of Alamo in Portland -- she had Leather listed on the set list, but somebody shouted out "ALAMO!" right as the roadside cafe sign started coming down. So she sang something like "hmm... will that one come.. what key is it in? the light guy is going to kill me because we have everything set up already... no that's not it... i don't know if she'll come tonight... and you will never know what you are missing right now unless you steal my setlist from my husband after the show..." so it was a last minute request.. and then launched into a PERFECT version of alamo, straight into an emotional version of mother into a gorgeous mary. a huge surprise :)

From Katie fairywinged (Posted to Precious Things mailing list):

I had a wonderful day!!!!

I went to the KINK radio station and got to see tori with some other really nice folks she came out after the show. She stopped and chatted with us for a second it was really nice. One of the girls there Shelyse gave her a native american necklace that she had made for her and then tori actually wore it at the show!!!! that was very exciting for the girl who made it!!! She was extra nice!! i listened to the show in my car she told some really nice stories and one really sassy one about telling off a restuarant manager in Boston. THe managered bragged about how they had raised 60,000 for a childrens charity and tori said well i'm not giving you 60,000 dollars.... although I COULD!!! everyone in the studio laughed it was so Cool! i'm sure the transcript is somewhere on the dent.

After that I went to the venue met up with my friend Mike and saw all those wonderful people i see every year. I love that. I wish i could afford to go to the rest of the shows

The meet and greet was so nice i got to be on the 2nd row and talk to her but i totally choked and sucked it up and couldnt say anything i wanted to say but hey maybe next time i'll pull through.

Before the show someone gave me THE best compliment of my life!!!! and that made my month!! Every aspect of the day was magical!

The show then blew me away! I got the absolute best spot when everyone rushed the stage after spring haze front and center squished against the stage!!! when tori left after spring haze she touch both my hands WHAT A NIGHT !!!!!! I didn't want to leave when it was over.

If anyone from the show reads this and remembers me by email address is Fairywinged@aol.com i would love to hear from you. I forgot to get peoples email address and i would love to stay in touch with you guys.

See everyone next year at the 2nd leg of the american tour.
